I've always wanted one of these every since my boys have been in school and bring home homework. We would always buy the little manual pencil sharpeners and they would never work properly or my husband would just use a knife to sharpen the pencil. Now that I have this I won't have to ever worry about my kids never having a pencil not sharpened. You can use this by plugging it in with the power cord that is included with it or it also takes 4 double AA batteries that aren't included. This is easy to clean out by taking the front off and emptying over a garbage can. It's safe to use even the kids can use it without any problems since it has an automatic stop safety feature when the shaving tray isn't properly snapped shut on it. This has 3 different sharpness settings: blunt, medium, and sharp. My husband tried all 3 out with some colored pencils and we barely noticed a difference. This works great and I absolutely am glad I got this electric pencil sharpener.
